Bank of America Plaza - Re-Lighting Ceremony Dallas, TX

Bank of America Plaza - Re-lighting Ceremony
Dallas, TX

Dallas-ites will be happy to know that the missing "Green Giant" will return to the iconic Dallas skyline soon.  In fact, there will be a re-lighting event on Thursday, November 14 from 5:30 to 7:30pm where the new green lighting will be turned on.

As part of a $20 million dollar renovation, Bank of America Plaza is replacing the old argon lighting with LED lights.  The 72-story skyscraper will again take its prominent place in the Dallas skyline between the Reunion Tower Ball and the new Omni Hotel.  It remains to be seen if the building will change colors as do its companions to support the local sports teams and major events held at the Dallas Convention Center.  I hope not.  I like the familiar "green giant" just the right color.

Nothing says "welcome home" to a weary traveler like a light  left on in the entrance.  Haute Realty can help you find that home in Dallas.

The Parker Place - Fright Against Cancer

The Parker Place - Fright Against Cancer
Red Oak, Texas

The Parker Place is famous!  Well, at least in Red Oak. They were featured in the Red Oak Now Magazine in 2012 because of their "haunted Halloween" decorations.  This year, they are putting their talents to good use by helping local breast cancer warriors with the cost of medical bills.  Come out for a good scare and a great cause THIS WEEKEND!  7:30-10:30pm Friday and Saturday. 105 Rockett Lane, Red Oak, TX.

Activities include country hayrides and the haunted graveyard adventure.  And, of course, there is the "walk of fear" for those brave enough to approach the front door seeking candy!  For the smaller guys there will be games and a bounce house in a well-lit area.  On Halloween the early hayrides will be used to take trick-or-treaters through a local subdivision before resuming their frightful route.

All activities are FREE, with donations appreciated.  Tickets to a Dallas Mavericks game (complete with parking pass) will be given to a very lucky guest.  Raffle tickets are $5 each and may be purchased at the event all three nights. The winner will be drawn at 10:00pm on Halloween night. Other prizes will be drawn nightly.

Looking for a good scare off the beaten path?  It's worth the 20 minute drive.  Come see what all the ghouls are howling about.

Haute Realty is a proud sponsor of this event. Confirmed sponsors include The Greenery, Alex Rodriguez Construction, Ace Hardware, and other local businesses.

The Most Anticipated Expiration Date in Town - The Wright Amendment

The Most Anticipated Expiration Date in Town - The Wright Amendment
Dallas, Texas

Downtown Dallas

With less than a year to go, Southwest Airlines and the City of Dallas are putting finishing touches on the Love Field Airport expansion project in anticipation of a much-contested boost of travel options for Dallas residents.  The Dallas-based airline has even installed a countdown clock at its headquarters as a reminder to employees and passengers.

Read more here:

The Wright Amendment, signed into effect in 1979, will finally expire October 13, 2014.  Trust me when I say that DFW International Airport, a joint venture between the cities of Dallas and Ft. Worth (and corporate headquarters of American Airlines), has enjoyed every advantage afforded by the artificially restricted competition imposed on the airlines who operate from Love Field in Dallas for the past 35 years.

It's about time. Gone will be the forced layovers in neighboring states.  Dallas travelers will now be able to fly nonstop anywhere in the US.  The additional delays caused by traveling to and from DFW; the long waits in security checkpoints; and the problematic parking issues will be replaced by the central location and ease-of-use of Love Field.

"Freedom of flight" will now be more than an exhibition featuring birds of prey during the State Fair.   Dallas residents who have chosen the convenience of revitalized housing options in the city proper can now benefit from convenient business and personal travel from the heart of the city.

LOVEJOY ISD - There's a Whole Lot of Winning Going On!

Lovejoy Leopards

Lovejoy ISD has been serving students in the communities of Fairview and Lucas since 1917.  It has received recognition from the TEA as an Exemplary School District, the Lone Star Cup for Academic and Athletic Achievements, as well as awards in almost every UIL Competition available.

One of the reasons students excel in this school district is because of innovative offerings such as the Academic Enrichment Tool, used to match a student's passion and interest with the vast array of outlets that the Lovejoy ISD has to offer.  It's a win-win match for the student, who now has a source of pride and achievement and for the School District, who helps develop the potential of future generations.

Speaking of excelling....the Volleyball team has its eye on the 3rd Straight State Championship.  Tonight at 8:00pm they will face Paris in Round 1 of Regional Semi-Finals tonight at Texas A&M in Commerce.   GO LADY LEOPARDS!!

Also tonight - the Varsity Football Team will face A.M. Smith in the Bi-District Playoffs at 7:30pm at the Eagle-Mustang Stadium in Richardson.  The Leopards are seeking to GO ALL THE WAY TO CHAMPIONSHIP!

Tomorrow, the Cross Country Track Team will compete in the Region II Championships at Arlington Vandergriff Park.  RUN, LEOPARDS, RUN!!

You may agree "There's No Place Like Home!"  The Sloan Creek Middle School will showcase its production of The Wizard of Oz this weekend.

It might interest you to know that 90% of high school students participate in at least one extra-curricular activity.

It's a great place to grow and learn!

Whar's the Beef? you say...It's in Allen, Texas of course!
Cattle Drive Allen TX
 Allen Event Center
Katie and I attended the 2010 Rancher's Reserve Cattle Drive festivities culminating at the Allen Event Center this morning.  The cattle drive is one of the FREE activities associated with the Texas Stampede Event.  In its 10th year, the Texas Stampede has helped thousands of families by raising money for Children's Medical Center of Dallas.  This is the first year it will be held in Allen, Texas.  The American Airlines Center in Dallas hosted the first 9 events.
I welcome this event to the community as a volunteer, but also because my family has personally benefited from the excellent medical care at Children's.  It's a cause I can believe in!

Of course, this beef would be about as tender as 3-day-old boots fresh off the press.  If you want fresh, grass-fed beef and all the wholesome, natural fixins you can now find them across the street at WHOLE FOODS MARKET in the Villages of Fairview.  Whole Foods has scheduled a Grand Opening for Monday, Whole Foods MarketNovember 1st.  The Heard Museum of Natural Science will be on hand to provide activities and information for the kids.  I may/may not attend the Grand Opening, but I can tell you that I WILL be shopping there!

Did I mention that Katie had her Cowgirl Bling too?  Is she just too cute or what??
